北京時間10月16日消息，據國外媒體報道，Google推出實驗室版網站管理員工具的同時，悄然撤下了爬蟲統計中的PageRank部分。

　　今天google相關工作人員已公開說谷歌將刪除工具欄的PageRank，PageRank不會列入算法中，以下是原文：

　　We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it. :-

　　原文大意為：我們老早就告訴你們了，不要花這么多精力去關注PageRank，但還是有很多人樂此不疲，把研究這個當成是頭等大事，這是一件不正確的事情，我們在工具條去掉了PageRank的數據，就是不想讓大家每天都傻傻的盯著PR的展示，僅僅關注數字的高低而已。

　　但目前Google工具欄仍然提供PageRank信息，而Google工具欄的使用者數量顯然遠遠超過網站管理員工具。

　　據悉早在2007年，Google就對去除Google工具欄中的PageRank功能征求過用戶意見。但此事不了了之。未來Google可能會停止提供PageRank信息。不過業內人士稱，PageRank直接關系到Google的品牌，Google不會輕易作出該決定。
