Conducted by Dr. Christopher Jackson, the Lycoming College Tour Choir has a long history of quality performances throughout the United States and throughout the world. Since its inception in 1947 by Walter McIver, the choir has presented concerts in every state east of the Mississippi River, California, Canada, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and across Europe. The choir tours nationally each year and internationally every three years. Most recently, in 2010, the choir had a 10-day tour through Argentina. In its seven decades of music, the Lycoming College Choir has performed hundreds of concerts including appearances at the National Cathedral, the Washington Shrine, the Crystal Cathedral, Coral Ridge, New York City’s Saint John the Divine and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. The choir has been featured twice in the Holiday Celebrations at the White House, and is making its first appearance on the Asian continent this year on our visit to China.
萊康明大學巡演合唱團是一支有著悠久歷史的合唱團,在整個美國乃至世界各地都有過高水準高質量的演出。目前合唱團的指揮是Christopher Jackson博士。合唱團最早成立于1947年，創辦人是Walter?McIver先生。自合唱團成立以來,他們在密西西比河以東的美國各州,加州、波多黎各、阿根廷、加拿大和歐洲各國都留下了自己的足跡。合唱團每年在全國范圍內巡演,每三年進行一次國際巡演。上一次的巡演是在2010年在阿根廷為期10天的表演。在將近七十年的合唱音樂旅程中,樂團舉辦了成百上千場的音樂會，其中一些重要的演出場所包括國家大教堂,華盛頓圣殿,水晶大教堂,珊瑚嶺,紐約圣約翰教堂和圣帕特里克教堂，合唱團還曾兩度在白宮舉行的節慶活動中受邀表演。
此次2016年在中國的巡演也是其第一次出現在亞洲大陸上。

The Tour Choir is selected each year by competitive audition from the 115-voice College Choir, which is comprised of students from all academic fields. Approximately 40 students are chosen annually to perform with the Tour Choir each year. During our tours, the choir visits and collaborates with high school and volunteer choruses in addition to its performing schedule. This type of educational outreach is central to the choir’s goal of creating a greater sense of community among all levels of music education. The choir’s repertoire consists of both sacred and secular music ranging from classical standards, new works by contemporary composers, as well as folk, world music, and modern styles. This year’s Tour Choir concert features many members of the Lycoming College Music Department in addition to the choir. Our young department is thriving and we hope that through the variety of our programming and the quality of our faculty and students you will enjoy our offering to you.
巡演合唱團每年從本校合唱團中進行選拔，本校合唱團有115個成員，來自各個不同的專業。每年大約有40名學生被選入巡演合唱團。在巡演中,除了正式演出以外，合唱團還與所到各地的高中合唱團以及志愿者合唱團進行交流和合作。這種類型的音樂教育推廣是合唱團的中心目標，在不同的音樂教育階段，都可以共建和諧的音樂團體。合唱團的巡演曲目豐富而廣泛，有古典宗教作品，也有通俗的當代及民間曲目,還有不同國家以及現代風格的作品。今年的巡演音樂會是由合唱團成員以及本校的音樂系的師生來聯袂演出的。音樂系的師生們充滿著生機和朝氣,希望通過他們豐富的曲目和高質量的演出,給中國的觀眾帶來愉悅的享受。

Dr. Christopher Jackson is in his third year as the Director of Choral Activities at Lycoming College where he conducts the Lycoming College Choir, Lycoming Chamber Choir, and Tour Choir, and teaches music history, conducting, vocal methods and applied voice lessons. He is regularly sought for High School vocal/choral clinics and workshops in the state of Pennsylvania. Most recently, he was honored by his selection to conduct the Pennsylvania Region Honor Chorus. At Lycoming College he co-founded the Lycoming Baroque Choir and Orchestra. The newly formed group focuses on performing Masterpieces of the Baroque Period and consists of an auditioned chorus of singers and music educators from the ages of 16 to 65 and from all professions.

In addition to teaching, conducting, and academic research, Christopher is also active as a professional choral singer and soloist. He will be featured on Skylark Vocal Ensemble’s upcoming album, Crossing Over, in the spring of 2016 and has sung with other professional ensembles such as the Tucson Chamber Artists, Kinnara Ensemble, The South Dakota Chorale, and more.

Before coming to Lycoming, Dr. Jackson directed the University of North Texas Men’s Chorus in Denton, Texas. During his time there, he was also the assistant conductor of the UNT Collegium Singers, the school’s premiere early music ensemble, as well as The Denton Bach Society. Prior to his work in Texas, Dr. Jackson taught choir and music theory at Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, AZ, where he also served as Vice-President of High-School Activities of AzMEA’s Choral Chapter, and assistant director of the early music ensemble, Musica Sonora.

Dr. Jackson received his BA in voice performance from Oklahoma State University, and his MM in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College, and was the graduate assistant conductor of the Westminster Symphonic Choir under Dr. Joe Miller. He received his DMA in choral conducting from the University of North Texas.
