1958——1963年：皇家斯德哥爾摩愛樂樂團首席。

1963——1993年：柏林愛樂樂團第一首席，長達30年樂團首席職務，其中卡拉揚任樂團指揮28年，阿巴多任職2年。

1969年：因對不同音樂風格的多樣化詮釋，獲得德國音樂評論家大獎。

L?斯佩雷在任職30年中，與卡拉揚、巴比羅里爵士、巴倫博伊姆等世界頂級指揮大師密切合作，他深厚的藝術造詣，以及座位柏林愛樂首席所展現的強大的藝術魅力和對樂隊的掌控與協調，得到了眾多指揮大師的高度青睞。足跡遍及歐洲、美洲、遠東、拉丁美洲相繼舉辦過音樂會。也是全球各主要音樂節的重要嘉賓。他同時還墨西哥交響樂團的首席客座指揮，頻繁參加室內樂團和管弦樂團的活動，同時也是多個國際小提琴大賽的評委，如“帕格尼尼”國際小提琴比賽、“尼爾森”國際小提琴比賽、慕尼黑“ARD” 國際小提琴比賽、漢諾威“約阿希姆” 國際小提琴比賽等國際重要賽事。

他所灌錄的唱片有：貝多芬、伯瓦爾德的小提琴協奏曲等、以及《英雄的生涯》小提琴獨奏、《天方夜譚》和《Lac des Cignes》（馮?卡拉揚、馬澤爾、羅斯特羅波維奇等指揮）。

L?斯佩雷從柏林愛樂樂團退休后主要從事指導并培訓優秀的室內交響樂團，并出訪世界多國進行演出活動。

Activity as soloist in Europe, Far East , Latin / South America (  with Herbert v. Karajan, Sir John Barbirolli , Daniel Barenboim a.o.).

Principal Guest Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Minería , México City .

Intensive activity with Chamber and String Orchestras .

Jury Member of International Violin Competitions. Munich "ARD ", Hannover "Joachim", Genoa "Paganini", Odense "C.Nielsen " , a.o.)

Recordings :violin concerti by Beethoven , Berwald,a.o., as well as the "concertmaster soli"of "Ein Heldenleben" , Scheherezade " and " Lac des Cignes " ( v. Karajan, Maazel, Rostropowitch )

 L. Spierer`s preferred activity since his retirement from the Berlin Philharmonic is directing Symphony and Chamber Orchestras from the concertmaster position-without conductor. "
